Our Story

817 Windows and Doors was started by the same family who owns Teague Lumber Co at 2501 White Settlement in Fort Worth, TX. Teague Lumber Co has been around since 1944 serving customers in and around DFW with high quality products and service.

The reason we started 817 Windows and Doors is that Teague Lumber Co. was selling windows and doors, but frustrated with the stories we were hearing from builders and homeowners and experiencing ourselves when it came to the installation side. Trying to find good quality crews that one could count on to stick to a general schedule and do quality work that doesn’t void the warranty of the windows was not as easy to find as one would think. People don’t understand just because a crew is amazing at framing or building in general doesn’t mean they know how to install windows and doors.

Customers would reach out to us at Teague Lumber saying the window we bought within the last couple of years was leaking, or the wall or unit cracking, or air coming through, etc. and thought it was the new window/door. We would go to the home to look at the situation and try to get a remedy in a timely manner. Most of the time when the situation was reviewed it was not the window/door itself causing the issue, but instead the way things were installed. Installation done wrong automatically voids most of the warranties that a manufacturer will give for windows and doors. This meant we would have to explain how poor installation caused their issue and voided the warranty. The manufacturer would not be paying for any damage or issues surrounding or including their window/door. We saw this play out too many times and decided it was time we tried to do something about it to give our customers a better experience.

We created 817 Windows and Doors to help control the level of service and quality our customers were getting when they were installing windows/doors. Remodeling or building a house can be a difficult and frustrating experience. We at 817 Windows and Doors hope to reduce your pain by making the purchasing and installing of such a key piece of a house's character and curb appeal an easier process for you. We will never be perfect, but we strive to do things the right way and provide a good experience.
